York BID has entered into an agreement with Alfa Energy, an award-winning energy services consultancy, to provide a free-of-charge energy advice and brokerage service for York BID members.
Energy is something we all consume, be it at home or in our business, yet few of us have the time or expertise to research and negotiate the best deals - still less to understand when is the very best moment to enter the energy market to do so.
Alfa Energy undertake to research the energy market on the business’ behalf and to select the most competitive deals available, bringing exclusive pricing solutions.
They advise that a business should never wait until a contract is up for renewal in order to make savings - as brokers they bring the expertise to monitor energy markets and to know the right time to secure the best future contract prices for a business - which may be some months ahead.
I’m interested in seeing if I can reduce energy costs - What do I need to do?
The procedure is straightforward: simply provide Alfa or the York BID with a copy of a recent energy bill and your permission to proceed to negotiate potential deals on a no-committment basis.
Alfa Energy will then handle the entire process for you: current contract termination, preparing your energy information to obtain accurate pricing, gaining competitive quotes and presenting these supply offers to you with a recommendation to make a clear and informed decision. Importantly, you remain in control at every stage.

Speaking of her experience of the York BID-Alfa Energy Advice and Brokerage scheme, Beverley Taylor of Goodramgate restaurant Cut & Chase said: "I am very happy to recommend the energy scheme the York BID is promoting to help businesses in the BID area.
"In my case I cut my gas bill by more than a third – a saving more than enough to cover the cost of my annual levy to the Business Improvement District."
And that's not the end of the story.
"I hope to make further savings on my electricity bill next year when my current contract runs out and Alfa Energy can again research the energy market for me," Beverley said.
"I’d recommend any business in the BID area to try the scheme - I was happy to engage with Alfa Energy, knowing they had been chosen to provide the service by York BID."
The process was smooth and straightforward with the staff both helpful and efficient. I remained in control of the process throughout and the decision which supplier to choose was entirely mine.
