Argus counter-terrorism training for retail businesses
The North East Counter Terrorism Unit supported by City of York Council, York BID and Make It York is hosting a free training workshop for York City Centre retail businesses. The workshop will help raise awareness and provide information on how to protect your business against a firearms, weapons or bomb attack and build future resilience. Whilst the security agencies work tirelessly to protect communities and businesses from such an attack, it has been proven that the involvement of communities and businesses themselves, working together, can and do help disrupt incidents. This workshop is relevant for businesses located in areas where potential incidents can occur such as crowded city centres or shopping centres.
The event will be attended by senior emergency service personnel who can help and advise throughout the workshop. The Emergency Planning department from City of York Council will also be in attendance and available to discuss the city evacuation plan.
This workshop will:
- Enable your business to build a plan and prepare for such an incident
- Give you the tools to put in place risk reduction measures and respond to an incident
- Plan for your staff's welfare
- Consider how to keep your business trading in the period after any incident
- Work together to help protect York City Centre
Please take this opportunity and arrange for a senior representative from your business to attend. This training workshop is free but space is limited so please rsvp.
