York Restaurant Week proves to be the hottest ticket in town

As York’s inaugural Restaurant Week launches (1 – 7 April 2019), organisers have been overwhelmed by the response from the people of York, who have now downloaded over 2,500 vouchers for the week’s special offers at restaurants across the city centre.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Chris Bush from York Business Improvement District. “We were very pleased by the number of restaurants in the city centre that wanted to be part of this first York Restaurant Week, including many of York’s independent restaurants as well as larger chain outlets – over 40 in total, with over 70 different offers available at the three price points of £10, £15 and £20,” says Chris.

“But over 2,500 vouchers have already been downloaded by people keen to try something new from the hottest kitchens in the city centre. We’ve focused our marketing on local people, as we’re keen that this gives the people of York and surrounding villages a good reason to try something new, at a quieter time of year before schools break up for Eater holidays.”

The York BID team will be monitoring redemptions of the vouchers off the week, but offer advice to anyone wanting to be sure of securing a great deal.

“Download your voucher from the website and then book ahead – every restaurant has a limited capacity, and with these offers already proving so popular, booking a table is a prudent step to avoid disappointment,” adds Chris.

Offers range from waffles and coffee for two for £10 (Cut & Chase, Goodramgate) to a three course Vietnamese dining experience for £15 (Coto Kitchen on Swinegate) or enjoying a Grand Afternoon Tea at The Grand for £20. Vouchers can be downloaded at anytime and printed off, or shown on a mobile device, but are only valid until 7 April 2019.
