Meet the office team who oversee the development, delivery and promotion of the BID's projects, programmes and services.

 

Andrew Lowson

Executive Director

          

Andrew began his career undertaking commercial master planning and project management within the aviation and rail sectors.  He then moved into economic development for a government agency before becoming Managing Director of a York-based events company, where he helped double turnover and expanded operations in the UK. Andrew brings experience of running a small business and understanding of working with multiple stakeholders on economic improvement programmes.

Carl Alsop

Operations Manager

      

Having lived in York his whole life, Carl has spent the last 12 years in retail management running 5 different stores of various shapes and sizes. Carl uses this and his experience of running a local air cadet Sqn and a local sports club, to run the BIDs operations efficiently with a focus on customer service.

Chris Bush

Business Manager

      

Chris was involved in the set-up of 'Make It York', the city's first Destination Management Organisation (DMO), where he became an integral member of business support advice services for the city, assisting small and start-up businesses to realise their goals. Chris also worked as part of the team who proposed the establishment of a BID for York and led the campaign to a successful public vote in November 2015.

Jo Little

Comms & Engagement Lead

Jo has over 20 years experience in communications and marketing, having begun her career in the IT and automotive sectors. She them moved into freelance consulting, helping independent businesses in and around York to develop marketing strategy. She has a pragmatic approach with a holistic view aimed at lasting impact.

Rachel Bean

Business Admin Officer

Rachel recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MSc in Global Migrations and Social Justice, where her passion for community development and placemaking took hold. Having worked for a year in Edinburgh in the Environmental sector, Rachel returned to her home city of York where she now supports the BID Team across a number of projects.
