York Restaurant Week
York Restaurant Week is a celebration of York’s vibrant food and drink scene, offering fantastic savings on some of the city’s best dining experiences.
The event is aimed at supporting local businesses by encouraging footfall into the city centre during March - a typically quiet time of year.
Diners are invited to step outside their comfort zone and try places they haven't visited before. Offers range from afternoon tea to a full three course dinner. It's a great opportunity for those who work in the city to have an affordable lunchtime treat, or for families and friends to dine out together without breaking the bank.
The event has proved to be a hit with York residents. During the first event in 2019, 5,750 vouchers were downloaded from the website – equating to over £77,000 worth of business for participating venues. In 2020 it grew considerably with over 60 businesses participating and 9,125 downloads with a value of over £107,000 when the event took place in March.
In part due to feedback from businesses, and in part to provide support to hospitality businesses in response to the coronavirus pandemic, a second Restaurant Week will take place in October 2020.
