Classic arcade games come to life in York this August
York BID is inviting families to enjoy a spectacular free city-centre experience this summer as the Actual Reality Arcade returns to Parliament Street for the latest Family Friendly Saturday event.
Taking place on Saturday 15th August from 12pm to 6pm on Parliament Street, the event promises a packed programme of activities and fun for all ages. At the heart of the day is the Actual Reality Arcade, a hands-on experience where iconic retro games are brought to life. Families can step into seven larger than life games including a huge-scale laser run, a giant Tetris wall, and whack-a-mole with human volunteers.
Parliament Street will also be buzzing with opportunities to meet and chat with the teams who keep York safe every day. North Yorkshire Police are hosting a Bike Register station, giving cyclists the opportunity to register their bikes for free to protect them against theft. York Rescue Boat will be on site with their boat, sharing the work they do across the city. Free face painting will add even more colour and excitement to the day.
Carl Alsop, Operations Manager at York BID, said: “Over the past year we’ve delivered 11 Family Friendly Saturdays, creating memorable experiences in York’s public spaces. This event is set to be one of our biggest yet, with so much to see and do. We’re excited to bring together fantastic entertainment with some of the dedicated organisations that work hard to keep our city safe, making it a true community celebration.”
