York BID launches ‘Support York’ initiative during Bootham Bar Conservation Works
York BID is excited to announce the launch of its brand-new initiative, Support York, a trial campaign designed to support businesses from 1-32 High Petergate during the ongoing Bootham Bar conservation works, including The Little Apple Bookshop, The Fat Badger, and 22 Yards Wine Bar.
Running until December, Support York encourages residents and visitors to support businesses on High Petergate through a monthly £50 York Gift Card giveaway, and it couldn’t be easier to take part:
- From Tuesday 5th August, spend £10 or more in any participating business.
- Send a photo of your receipt to info@theyorkbid.com.
- Wait to see if you’re a lucky winner!
The project was inspired by York BID’s successful ‘Shop York’ campaign, which encouraged shoppers to support high street businesses throughout February. Support York is funded by City of York Council and delivered by York BID, with the aim of keeping High Petergate thriving during the essential conservation works.
As part of the Support York campaign, new information towers have been installed to signpost visitors down High Petergate, which remains open for business.

Bootham Bar really is the gateway to the city and whilst our gateway is being repaired, it’s lovely to remind people of all the unique shops and business we have along High Petergate.”
