York Quest

The York BID have launched the ‘York Quest’ AR (augmented reality) mobile app which features themed trails throughout the year, encouraging families into the city to find a series of characters who are hidden around York’s historic streets. 

Once you have found a character there is a fun interactive element to enjoy. You can also take a photo and share on social media. The York Quest app is free to use and available now on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This app allows family bubbles to safely experience the city while maintaining social distancing, in a new and interactive way.

The York Quest App was first trialled at Christmas with the ‘Santa Search’. The BID has decided to develop the app into a year-round activity with regularly changing seasonal trails to keep the app fresh. 

Users can choose to receive notifications of future trails as they are launched, including a permanent trail featuring iconic characters from York’s history which is currently being developed.
