Big ideas and new connections as Momentum York returns

York’s professional services sector will come together for an afternoon of fresh ideas, local success stories and new connections as Momentum York returns this November.
The free conference takes place at The Milner Hotel, York, on Wednesday 18th November, from 12pm to 7pm, gathering more than 100 professionals to explore opportunities for growth.
Created by professional services businesses, for professional services businesses, Momentum celebrates the expertise and ambitious firms working behind York’s office doors.
June’s inaugural conference explored why businesses choose York. This second event asks how they can grow here, win new work and make the most of opportunities on their doorstep.
Richard Webb, Chief Executive of City of York Council will join Chloe Wilcox, Head of Procurement at York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, and Rob Wolfe, Managing Director of CHY Consultancy, to explore York’s growth plans, public sector contracts and opportunities linked to York Central.
Roland Emmans, Sector Head for Technology & Growth Lending at HSBC UK, will share insights into what businesses should prepare for over the next 12 months.
Local businesses LazenbyBrown, Pro-Development and Monster Group will discuss growing through uncertainty, sharing experiences and practical lessons from their own journeys.
Rachel Bean, Project Manager at York BID, said: “Momentum York is about building a connected, confident, and ambitious professional services community. You might meet a future collaborator, discover an opportunity, or hear an idea you can take back to your business. We’ve listened to what people wanted from the next event: practical insights, useful connections and time to talk.”
Mat Lazenby, Creative Director at LazenbyBrown, said: “Momentum York is one of those events that’s genuinely worth making time for. It’s a rare opportunity to hear directly from some of York’s leading businesses, people going through the same challenges and breakthroughs you are. It brings together people from across the professional services community; creative, digital, marketing, architecture, legal, engineering and HR. There’s a real buzz when that mix of people gets in one room, sharing ideas and making connections. We love being a part of it.”
Alongside the talks, attendees can explore a local business expo, enjoy lunch and meet colleagues from across the sector. Complimentary drinks and networking run from 5pm to 7pm, including speed networking hosted by York Professionals.
Brendan Paddison, Dean of York Business School at York St John University, said: “The June event highlighted the value of bringing people together. Whether it’s a shared challenge, a fresh perspective, or a new connection, those conversations help businesses move forward. Momentum creates more opportunities for York’s professional services community to feel better connected to the sector and local plans for development and growth. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with York BID as part of the York Business Festival.
Momentum York is delivered by York BID in collaboration with York Professionals, York St John University, HSBC, City of York Council, and West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, with the vital funding support of David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
