York Gift Card
Business support is a key part of the BID, particularly engaging with York’s residents and locals.
The York Gift Card launched in October 2019 and allows BID levy paying businesses to sign up to the initiative free of charge.
Since launch the York Gift Card has rapidly grown to become the largest gift card scheme in the whole of the UK, with 275 local businesses having joined up to accept the gift card.
In the first ten months of the scheme, £26,000 worth of cards have been purchased. This money is guaranteed to be spent in city centre businesses, locking the money into the local economy.
The card is available to buy at York Gin on Pavement, The Potion's Cauldron on The Shambles, and Rue B at Minster Gates, or online at www.yorkgiftcard.com.
Once purchased the card can be used at a wide range of businesses, and spend can be spread across multiple places. For a full list of particpating businesses or to buy your card visit www.yorkgiftcard.com.
The Card is adorned by a modern and stylish design of the Minster. The artwork was commissioned by the BID from local York artist Jonathan Williams who can be found working at The Braithwaite Gallery on Low Petergate.
