Video: York BID launches Mince Pie radio station to keep city in festive mood this Christmas
Mince Pie radio is back on the air!
At the Festive First Night last Thursday (November 15), York BID Executive Director Andrew Lowson took to the stage to switch on York's Christmas radio station.
After a countdown by the hundreds of people gathered in St Helen's Square, Andrew pushed the button and the pop-up channel took to the airwaves with Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade.
Mince Pie Non Stop is an online and DAB station brought to us by Minster FM and sponsored by the BID.
As well as playing nothing but Christmas music, the station broadcasts York city centre information, events and offers, encouraging people to come in and shop, socialise and more.
"People in York just love Christmas," Andrew told Ben Fry, Minster FM breakfast host, at the switch-on.
"It's a very festive city – we've got a great offering in the city centre in terms of the shops, the backdrop.
"We've got more lights than we've had before, we've got a bigger Christmas market. It's going to be a good one."
It's the second year of Mince Pie Non Stop. And like last year, one lucky listener can win £1,000 by finding the password hidden in York city centre.
